AUSTIN, Texas — A 32-year-old man was arrested following a fatal crash involving an SUV and a tow truck early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:36 a.m. on December 20, 2025, resulted in the death of an unidentified female passenger.
Austin Police Department officers responded to the scene on the 8400 block of East US Highway 290, westbound lanes, where they found Jordan M. Atkins, of Austin, Texas, driving the SUV. The unidentified female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Austin Police Department. Both drivers remained on site following the crash.
Atkins was subsequently arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. This incident marks Austin’s 89th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 93 fatalities. Comparatively, on the same date in 2024, there were 91 fatal crashes leading to 97 deaths, stated the source.
