AUSTIN, Texas — After years of dedicated service, K-9 Vito is officially retiring from active duty, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety – West Texas Region. Vito has been instrumental in the removal of dangerous drugs and significant seizures.
Throughout his career, Vito participated in 199 total stops, seizing 126 pounds of marijuana, 225 pounds of cocaine, and 32 pounds of methamphetamine. Additionally, he helped seize $585,969 in U.S. currency. His efforts, alongside Trooper Vargas, have made communities safer by removing harmful substances from the streets, stated the department.
“Thank you, Vito, for your tireless commitment to justice. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement,” the department expressed in their release.
