EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Pasoans are embracing the annual tradition of La Rosca de Reyes, or Three Kings Day, by gathering to share the sweet, ring-shaped bread.

Families take turns slicing the bread to find the tiny plastic baby hidden inside.

The person who finds the baby is tasked with hosting a party on Feb. 2. Pastor Miguel Briseno of MT Carmel Church said, “It’s a beautiful tradition that brings families together.”

Ray Olivas, an El Paso bakery owner, noted the significance of the event, while Cindy Garcia and the Favela family shared their excitement.

Amy Sanchez from Central El Paso added, “It’s a fun way to keep the tradition alive.”
