A fire that broke out overnight has put a San Antonio restaurant on pause as the blaze left parts of the business scorched. The San Antonio Fire Department responded to a fire at The Good News Burgers shortly after it was reported around 3:18 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6.
MySA reached out to the San Antonio Fire Department’s public information officer, who stated that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Crews that arrived on the scene reported a “significant amount of fire” that impacted the commercial building.
“Crews began an aggressive interior attack and had the fire under control in roughly 15 minutes. No injuries were reported,” SAFD told MySA.

It appears that the restaurant will be closed at least temporarily to assess the damage, but no timeline is available for when The Good Burgers will reopen to welcome guests. MySA attempted to contact the burger joint directly on Tuesday morning, but calls placed to the business were directed to an answering machine message. We also sent an email and a direct message to the restaurant’s Facebook page, and we will update if we hear back.
The Good News Burgers has been open since 2013, originally operating under the name Papa’s Burgers. The restaurant has gone on to expand and contract, opening and closing locations around San Antonio.
