One of the most welcome local music developments of late is the “Homegrown” album and concert series, a quick snapshot of the massive North Texas music scene.

Last fall, KXT-FM (91.7) issued Homegrown Bites Vol. II, a free, limited-edition vinyl disc featuring a dozen tracks from North Texas acts, many of which will play the station’s Homegrown Concert on Jan. 16. Dallas acts on tap include the soul-funk-hip-hop group Silver Skylarks, country singer Frankie Leonie, Oak Cliff’s atmospheric Secrecies, the Nicaraguan-born singer-guitarist Ceci Ceci and R&B singer Dana Harper, a one-time contestant on The Voice.

Fort Worth acts on the bill include the high-voiced soul artist Bencjones, singer-songwriter Matthew McNeal and Cut Throat Finches, the band led by singer Sean Russell.

A multi-artist jam segment promises to be a highlight.
