There may soon be more options for Fort Worth residents to live by the Trinity River with amenities well beyond any archetypal van-by-the-river accommodations.Â
Construction is continuing on the Westbend Residences along South University Drive that will bring 321 luxury apartments with two resort-style pools, a fitness center, a dog spa and a two-story parking garage. The $65.2 million project is an expansion of developer Trademark Property’s Westbend development, a retail and office center that is 100% leased.
The expansion of the Westbend development will include a ground floor restaurant and additional retail and community space along Trinity Trails and South University Drive.
Farther west on the Trinity Trails, a project that could bring a 14-story tower residence close to a popular riverside trail took a step forward on Dec. 3 when the City Plan Commission approved a waiver on the difficult-to-access location to allow for a cul-de-sac.Â
The plan calls for the 7.4-acre site to be a mixed-use development called Pearson Grove at 1635 Rogers Road, which is just west of Rogers Road and the South University Drive bridge, on the north bank of the river. The residential component of the project would feature the high-rise luxury condominium while the other half of the site would include an office and retail building.Â
In September 2024, the Urban Design Commission approved a waiver that allowed the project to exceed the nine-story limitations in that area.Â
The site proposal includes a garage for about 60 cars and pedestrian access to Trinity Trails along the river. Amenities would include a pool deck, outdoor communal spaces, courts and penthouse level.Â
Total E&P USA Real Estate sold the land to developers Pearson Grove in 2022. Total E&P owns a gas production site in the area which it purchased from Chesapeake Energy in 2016.
