CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 63-year-old man was found dead inside a tanker trailer at a FleetPride facility along Interstate 37, prompting a hazmat and rescue response from Corpus Christi firefighters.
CCFD Assistant Chief Tony Perez said crews were dispatched after the man had been unaccounted for more than 20 minutes and was found unresponsive inside the tanker.
Hazmat and rescue units were called to the scene because of the confined space environment inside the trailer. Perez said the emergency was later transitioned to a recovery operation.
The man was extricated from the tanker at about 12:54 p.m., according to Perez.
Perez said CCPD took custody of the body and notified the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The man’s identity has not been released, and the cause of death is under investigation.
Perez said the man was a worker at the facility.
