CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Amanda Torres was officially sworn in Wednesday as the newest Port of Corpus Christi commissioner, beginning her term on the board that guides policy and development for one of the nation’s largest port complexes.
Nueces County Judge Connie Scott administered the oath of office during a courthouse ceremony.
Torres said she plans to focus on public service and helping the port continue moving forward.
“I’m here to serve. I understand this is a public position,” Torres said. “I am here to do my best and I want to make sure this commission, the port continues its record of excellence and that I help it move forward to the future.”
Torres has served the local legal community in several roles, including Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Place 1, and as Judge of County Court at Law No. 5 in Nueces County.
Michael Hunter was also sworn in to the Port of Corpus Christi commission earlier this week.
