It’s a sad day for all-you-can-eat buffet lovers in San Antonio, as a Golden Corral location in the city’s Helotes area seems to have quietly shuttered operations “for good.”

The buffet chain’s apparent exit first came to light through the San Antonio Restaurants Facebook group, in which multiple users posted updates regarding the location’s closure in late December and early January.

According to Facebook user Patricia Godkin, the Helotes outpost on 9111 N. Loop 1604 W. closed “for good” at 4 p.m. Dec. 31 “due to a failure to renegotiate the rental agreement.”

A TikTok post from the Golden Corral’s Helotes location stated the restaurant was simply moving and reconsolidating at another Golden Corral outpost on 1025 S.E. Military Road.

Golden Corral did not immediately respond to Express-News request for comment. However, an Express-News call to the Helotes location revealed the associated phone number is no longer in service.

Additionally, the Helotes Golden Corral outpost is listed as “permanently closed” on the restaurant chain’s site. Google also lists that particular location as “permanently closed.”

San Antonio buffet lovers, don’t fret just yet. There are still three Golden Corral locations left in the San Antonio area – one on SE Military Road, another on NW Loop 410 and one more in Universal City off Pat Booker Road.
