A body was located in Houston’s Buffalo Bayou Tuesday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said a call came in at approximately 2 p.m. for a possible dead body in the area of 1019 Commerce St. A Houston Fire Department spokesperson said they received a call for a “water rescue.”
In a social media post, HPD said the body of an adult male was located and the investigation was ongoing. HPD said it had established a media staging on the south side of Buffalo Bayou, but did not provide any additional information as of Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first reported body recovered in the Houston bayous in 2026. In 2025, a total of 33 bodies were recovered from bayous in the Houston area throughout the year.
