AUSTIN, Texas — A fatal motorcycle collision at the intersection of South 1st Street and West Slaughter Lane claimed the life of a cyclist, identified as 58-year-old Jeffrey House, on January 3, 2026. The incident occurred on December 23, 2025, at approximately 10:12 a.m., according to the Austin Police Department.

Both the motorcycle driver and House were transported to a local hospital following the crash. House was pronounced deceased at the hospital days later. This incident marks Austin’s 95th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 99 fatalities, as stated by the department. Comparatively, on the same date in 2024, there were 91 fatal crashes resulting in 97 deaths. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and fatality information may change, according to the press release.
