HOUSTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) – A sawmill was destroyed in a fire Saturday, according to Houston County Fire Chief James Stanley.
The Houston County Fire Department was dispatched to a sawmill on Hurricane Loop Road just after 3 p.m. Saturday.

It took crews around five hours to contain the fire. The sawmill was deemed a total loss, Stanley said.
Stanley said the blaze was caused by high winds blowing sparks from the burning of mill saw dust.
Departments from the City of Erin, Humphreys County, Stewart County, Montgomery County, and Sylvia Yellow Creek Fire Departments, and the Tennessee Forestry Division all responded to the fire.
