EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A pedestrian was struck by an unmarked El Paso County Sheriff’s Office vehicle on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says just before 6 p.m., they responded to a crash involving an unmarked Sheriff’s Office vehicle at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Rich Beem Boulevard.

Preliminary information revealed that the unmarked unit was traveling northbound on Rich Beem Boulevard and turned westbound onto Montana Avenue when a pedestrian entered the westbound lanes within the crosswalk while disregarding a traffic control device.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, and bystanders rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation. No further information has been released.
