The number of Texas football portal entrees swelled to 22 Tuesday with the announcements that edge rusher Zina Umeozulu and receiver Jamie Ffrench announced their intentions to transfer.
Umeozulu, a member of the 2024 class, redshirted as a freshman but found a spot in the regular edge rotation this past season. He appeared in 12 games while posting 13 total tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. Four of those tackles and one of the sacks came against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl.
Umeozulu joins his older brother, former Texas offensive lineman Neto Umeozulu, in the transfer portal.
Ffrench, a true freshman, appeared in four games this season with one catch while playing just 22 snaps.
According to 247 Sports’ transfer database, Texas has 22 portal entrees as of Thursday afternoon. Here is how the rest of the SEC schools rank, excluding current College Football Playoff participant Ole Miss, which has extended portal dates because of its postseason run.
