After another unseasonably warm day, some areas of North Texas could see showers Thursday morning before more seasonable air arrives for the weekend.

There is a 20%-30% chance of showers before noon, with rain chances higher along the Red River, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

As of 10 a.m., only trace amounts of precipitation had been reported at DFW International Airport.

It is expected to be cloudy through mid-morning, before the skies gradually clear out, allowing temperatures to potentially reach 79 degrees before dropping to 52 degrees overnight, the weather service said. Thursday is also forecast to be windy with gusts as high as 30 mph as a system sweeps through the area.

Friday brings the possibility of more showers, but they are not currently expected to reach most of Dallas-Fort Worth. Areas to the south and east should have the highest chance of precipitation on Friday, with a 40-60% chance of rain near Palestine.

On the heels of that rain, a cold front is expected to move in. Temperatures should drop back down to normal levels — with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s —over the weekend.
