LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Martin Luther King Commemorative Council of Lubbock will host a five-day celebration honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from Jan. 15-19.
All events will take place at Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane.
Event schedule
The celebration begins Thursday, Jan. 15, with “Take A STEP” at 7 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 16, features the Individuals of Distinction Award Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person. Guest speakers include Dr. Stephanie Smith-Jeffery and Dr. Christa Tillman Young.

Saturday, Jan. 17, will host Youth Night/Musical at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 18, includes a citywide service at 5 p.m. Dr. Ralph M. McCormick from Second Calvary Baptist Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, will speak.
The celebration concludes Monday, Jan. 19, with MLK Day of Service throughout the community.
City of Lubbock Council members and other civic leaders will be participating in the events.
