1. Texas AFL-CIO to host first debate between James Talarico, Jasmine Crockett

The Texas American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) is hosting the first debate between Democratic U.S. Senate candidates James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett.

The debate, which will take place at the 2026 Committee on Political Education (COPE) Convention in Georgetown, Texas, will welcome questions from members of the union and workers across the state of Texas, along with those who want to vote in the Democratic primary, according to their website.

2. Texas moves from ‘high’ to ‘very high’ in flu cases

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas has moved from the “high” category to “very high” in their weekly influenza surveillance report, which monitors outpatient respiratory illness that includes a fever plus a cough and a sore throat.

3. H-E-B leads top grocery store rankings for 4th year in a row

“No store does more,” H-E-B’s famous motto, continues to ring true. The revered Texas-based grocer earned the No. 1 spot for best-in-class regional supermarkets in the U.S. for the fifth time in nine years and fourth year in a row.

A study by dunnhumby ranked U.S.-based grocers based on metrics like prices, promotions, quality and rewards and came up with the top 20 best.
