Austin One of the Best Cities for a Fresh Start
Austin landed at No. 13 overall on the list of the best U.S. cities for a fresh start, with a quality-of-life ranking of 11 among the nation’s 100 most populous cities.
The study looked at factors like access to restaurants and green spaces, walkability, social opportunities, and overall livability- areas where Austin continues to shine. From its outdoor lifestyle to its creative energy, the Texas capital offers plenty of reasons for newcomers to feel at home.
While it didn’t crack the top 10, Austin’s strong showing puts it firmly on the radar for anyone thinking about a reset without leaving the Lone Star State.
Other Texas Cities that Made the ‘Fresh Start’ List
Austin wasn’t the only Texas city to earn a spot. Dallas and Houston also ranked well, particularly for job market diversity; making them appealing options for those whose fresh start includes a new job or career path.
Between Austin’s lifestyle perks and Dallas and Houston’s economic strength, Texas continues to offer plenty of options for people looking to turn the page.
A fresh start doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch somewhere unfamiliar. Sometimes, it’s about finding a city that better fits where you are right now. And if 2026 feels like the year for a reset, Austin- and even Texas as a whole- might already be calling.
