CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO (KFOX14/CBS4) — State authorities in Ciudad Juarez arrested a couple after they were allegedly caught trying to kidnap people near the airport on Sunday.

According to the Secretary of Public Security of the State of Chihuahua, Ernesto G. R. and Alejandra Neftali G. L. were arrested after state officers, national guard soldiers and members of the Mexican military stumbled upon an attempted kidnapping during their routine patrol.

Authorities said they saw four people struggling against one man, saying that he had tried to force them into a car at gunpoint. One of the people reportedly had a gunshot wound to the leg.

Law enforcement agents intervened, took the suspect into custody and seized a gun, before then going after to try and locate the kidnapper’s car, which was described as a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Agents were able to eventually find the Mitsubishi Lancer, which was reportedly being driven by the female suspect.
