EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso International Airport has launched a donation drive on Monday for airport employees impacted by the government shutdown.
As the federal government shutdown enters its third week, many airport employees, including TSA agents and air traffic controllers, are working without pay.
To support these essential workers, the El Paso airport will begin collecting donations of non-perishable food, gift cards, and personal care products starting Monday.
This initiative aims to assist federal employees and their families during the government shutdown and is part of a broader effort seen at airports nationwide.
This donation drive also mirrors a similar campaign launched during the 2018-2019 shutdown.
Items requested for donation include canned goods, rice, pasta, peanut butter, granola bars, baby food, formula, shelf-stable milk, juice, toiletries, and gift cards up to $20.
Donations can be dropped off at the ELP terminal between 9:30-11:30 a.m., and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
