The No. 12 LSU Tigers upset No. 2 Texas 70-65, handing Texas its first loss of the season. This victory was Kim Mulkey’s first SEC win over a top-five opponent with LSU.

Junior guard Mikaylah Williams filled the stat sheet with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists.

Williams was the only Tiger who had over 10 points. Senior guard Flau’jae Johnson struggled against the Longhorns after scoring 25 points on Thursday against Georgia. Johnson had 10 points and four turnovers, going 4 of 14 from the field. The Tigers are now .500 in conference play after dropping their first games to No. 11 Kentucky and No. 12 Vanderbilt.

Madison Booker led the way for Texas with 24 points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes. Most of Booker’s production came in the second half for the Longhorns. After picking up two early fouls, Booker played only 11 minutes and had four first-half points.

Longhorns guard Rori Harmon also struggled to get going against the Tigers. She finished with two points and a season-low three assists on 1-of-7 shooting. Harmon ranks sixth in the country in assists per game.

Senior center Kyla Oldacre’s 16 point, 16 rebound double-double off the bench was not enough for Texas to come out with the victory.

After Texas’ loss, No. 1 UConn, No. 7 Vanderbilt and No. 17 Texas Tech are the only undefeated teams left. The challenges will keep coming for LSU and Texas.

Next Sunday, the Tigers will take on the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners. The Longhorns hope to get back on track against No. 3 South Carolina.
