We’ve long known that the Philadelphia Eagles have some tough roster decisions to make at season’s end. We sometimes assumed that this would be Dallas Goedert’s swan song after he didn’t receive the extension that he was looking for this past offseason.

He has responded with the best campaign of his career, remaining healthy for the most part. He has produced several highlight-reel moments, making the most of the opportunities available to him.

The stat line is easy to love. In 15 starts, he has tallied 60 receptions and 591 yards receiving. His 11 touchdowns double as a franchise record for tight ends. He has gone from being seen as expendable to, possibly, one of the offseason’s top priorities.

One of his best NFL seasons has carried over into the postseason. During the first half of the EaglesSan Francisco 49ers Wild Card game. He scored both a rushing and receiving TD. Both were a thing of beauty.

Thanks to his first-half performance, he joins some elite company. He’s now one of only six NFL tight ends in the game’s history to record a rushing and receiving TD in the same game.
