Fort Worth Country Day (FWCD) is turning a new page in its athletics program, and the Falcons have found their next leader in Barry Chamberlin. Following a nationwide search, Chamberlin will step into the role of athletic director this July, taking the reins from Leigh Block, who has guided the program since 2021, according to a release.
With more than 15 years in athletic administration, hands-on coaching experience, and a proven track record of developing student-athletes both on and off the field, Chamberlin’s resume speaks for itself.
“Barry brings a dynamic vision and a strong commitment to building meaningful relationships with students, coaches, and families,” said Eric Lombardi, FWCD’s head of school. “We look forward to the positive impact his leadership will have on our athletics program and the FWCD community as a whole.”
Chamberlin currently steers the ship at Carrollwood Day School in Tampa, Florida, overseeing 23 varsity sports and more than 90 coaches and staff. There, he led nearly $1 million in upgrades to athletic facilities, proving he’s as comfortable in the boardroom as he is on the court. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, where he served as athletic director and head boys basketball coach, shaping both programs and players with a steady hand.
A Pennsylvania native, Chamberlin earned his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California, and his bachelor’s in multi-age physical education from Cedarville University in Ohio, where he was a four-year starter and team captain for the basketball team.
“I was drawn to Fort Worth Country Day by its outstanding reputation and the strong alignment between the school’s core values and my own,” Chamberlin said in a statement. “I am incredibly enthusiastic about the future of Falcon athletics and excited to support our coaches and student-athletes as they work to maximize their talents and reach their full potential. By building on FWCD’s core values and fostering a growth mindset throughout the athletic program, I believe each player, coach, and team can continue to rise to new heights.”
