There are several upcoming and ongoing road projects in Georgetown, including plans to build medians on Williams Drive, and to construct two pedestrian and bicycle bridges crossing the San Gabriel River.

Williams Drive
Project: Construct medians with turn lanes on Williams Drive from I-35 to Serenada Drive, including a shared-use path on the north side of Williams Drive, a new waterline, and street lighting from DB Wood Road to Jim Hogg Road to and Serenada Drive to I-35
Update: In the design phase, with the first phase of the project—street lighting from DB Wood to Jim Hogg—anticipated to begin in the spring

Southwestern Boulevard
Project: Reconstruct and expand Southwestern Boulevard to two lanes with a center turn lane and other improvements from University Park to SE Inner loop
Update: Substantial completion expected by the end of February

Project: Upgrade Rockride Lane to a two-lane collector roadway with a continuous center left-turn lane and a 10-foot-wide shared-use path along one side from SE Inner Loop to Sam Houston Avenue
Update: The first phase of the project, from SE Inner Loop to Mitchell Elementary and Wagner Middle schools, was substantially completed last fall. Construction continues with estimated completion by September
