TEXAS — U-Haul has published its 2025 growth index for metros and cities in the United States, with Texas having spots on both lists.

Notably, Texas has the top three spots in the top growth by metros, with Dallas, Houston and Austin occupying those spots. Dallas remains in the number one spot from 2024, but Houston rose from ninth and Austin from fifth place.

Other towns that occupied the metro growth list were the Brownsville and McAllen area in tenth place, having risen from 21st place in 2024, along with San Antonio in 21st place and College Station in 23rd place. Neither metro appeared on last year’s list.

On the cities list, Texas has four spots, the highest being McKinney in 6th, followed by Seguin and New Braunfels at 14th and 15th and Conroe occupying 20th. None of the Texas cities were on the 2024 list.

According to U-Haul, their metrics are calculated by “customers who rented a one-way truck, trailer or U-Box® moving containers in one metro or city proper and dropped off their equipment in another metro or city proper. Interstate and intrastate transactions are included.”

U-Haul estimates that there were over 2.5 million one-way transactions within the United States and Canada in 2025.
