Heading into the spring semester, UTA is hosting its semesterly Maverick Stampede to welcome new and returning students to campus Jan. 13-25.

Maverick Stampede serves as a welcome and an aid in getting students accustomed to campus. Through numerous events, students get an opportunity to connect with peers they haven’t met before, Student Activities coordinator Chrysta Porter said.

“It’s a very exciting moment for everybody to get involved and just really express their Maverick pride,” Porter said.

Warm Up Wednesday

Warm Up Wednesday runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the lobby of the Chemistry and Physics Building. There will be free hot chocolate, coffee, cookies and limited edition College of Science merch as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Work-Study 101

Students will have the opportunity to learn all about work-study and what it means at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Career Development Center.

Global Grounds

Come and meet other Global Mavericks from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Palo Duro Lounge in the University Center. Students can enjoy free snacks, coffee and chai.

Women’s basketball

See the Lady Mavs take on Utah Tech University at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at College Park Center. The first 300 fans will receive T-shirts at the doors to the game. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and students get in free with their IDs.

Welcome Back Movie Night

Welcome Back Movie Night starts at 5 p.m. Friday in the Rio Grande Ballroom in the University Center for a free showing of “Sinners.” Free popcorn will be available.

Spring 2026 Activity Fair Day

Students have the opportunity to meet with many of the student organizations on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Maverick Activities Center. Departments and community agencies will also have booths for students to visit.

Men’s Basketball

Watch the Mavericks take the court against Tarleton State University at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at College Park Center. The first 100 students in attendance will receive free straw hats at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m., and students get in free with IDs.

Maverick All-Nighter

Enjoy laser tag, roller skating and a silent disco from 7 p.m. Jan. 23 to 3 a.m. Jan. 24 at the University Center.
