Mayer-Oakes brings more than 20 years of experience working with major studio and streaming productions across Texas. His background includes projects for Netflix, Amazon and Warner Bros., according to Visit Corpus Christi.

Visit Corpus Christi officials said the new role is aimed at making the Coastal Bend a destination of choice for film, television and music projects while also creating new opportunities for local creatives and businesses.

Mayer-Oakes will lead efforts to attract productions, support on-location filming and strengthen relationships between the region’s creative community and visiting production companies.

Visit Corpus Christi said the appointment continues the organization’s push to raise the region’s profile as a filming destination, often referred to as the “Sparkling City by the Sea,” and to encourage economic activity tied to production work.

The organization said film and music production brings direct spending to hotels, restaurants and small businesses, while also showcasing the Coastal Bend to wider audiences.
