Stephanie Okechukwu has a global presence

Beyond Okechukwu’s height and 7’4 wingspan, the 18-year-old brings global playing experience to the team. Originally from Umunneochi, Nigeria, she attended high school in Kyoto, Japan, at Fukuchiyama Seibi. It was in Japan that she discovered her love of basketball. She further developed her skills playing AAU ball in the Philippines. 

Texas Tech has been on an unprecedented run, starting the season 15-0, and has risen to No. 21 in the AP Top 25.  The program has broadened its international recruitment, with Okechukwu’s place on the roster reflecting the Lady Raiders’ growing global reach and commitment to cultivating diverse talent.

“Just a couple of years ago, our program took a deep dive into the international recruiting space,” associate coach Erik DeRoo added.
