TEXAS (KAUZ) – According to the Texas Lottery, a record-setting Powerball jackpot run in late 2025 generated an estimated $78.88 million for public education in Texas.
The jackpot reached that level following 47 consecutive drawings from Sept. 8 through Dec. 24, 2025, according to the Texas Lottery, with the winning ticket bought in Arkansas.
“While the jackpot-winning ticket was sold outside of Texas, this historic run highlights the important role the Texas Lottery plays in supporting public education.
Extended jackpot runs like this one generate important funding for Texas schools, support our retailer partners and result in meaningful wins for players across the state.”
In addition to contributions to public education and retailer commissions, The Texas Lottery said that 50 percent of Texas Powerball sales are allocated to prize expenses in accordance with game rules, and approximately seven percent supports administrative costs.
