LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock’s City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday to reject a proposal to roll back new fees at the Berl Huffman Athletic Complex.
The panel rejected Mayor Mark McBrayer and Mayor Pro Tem Christy Martinez Garcia’s proposal to lower fees for using the turf fields.
Council approved the fee increase in October to raise funds to maintain the fields.
McBrayer and Martinez Garcia proposed the rollback, claiming the change caught too many people by surprise.
The majority voted against the proposal, saying there’s no good time for a fee hike but the city needs the extra income this year.
