LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) – Correction: The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said a report of multiple structures on fire was incorrect. A single home was affected. LCSO said the confusion is because of how fast the fire spread and the wind in the direction of nearby structures.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Woodrow Fire Department, Wolfforth Fire Department and Cooper ISD Police Department responded a house fire on Tuesday night in South Lubbock
An update provided by LCSO said first responders arrived on scene to a home in the 16400 block of CR 2200 around 6:45 p.m. When they arrived, they were concerned that the fire would not be contained quickly. They also found a sparking downed power line.
In precaution, deputies evacuated nearby residents and checked surrounding building. Both fire departments were able to extinguish the fire at the original home.
The family affected by the fire declined assistance from the Red Cross. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
