The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portal taketh away. In what increasingly resembles NFL free agency, the portal now commands more attention than National Signing Day or even the early signing period. Love it or hate it, it isn’t going anywhere—and every program in the country feels its impact.
As the window begins to close, several players are locking in their new homes for the 2026 season. On Tuesday, former Texas A&M redshirt freshman safety Jordan Pride became the latest Aggie to find a fresh start, opting to continue his career in the Sun Belt with the Golden Eagles.
According to an announcement from his agency on Monday, Pride will join Southern Miss this fall and arrive in Hattiesburg with three years of eligibility remaining. The former ESPN Top 300 recruit never broke through in College Station, appearing in just two games and recording one tackle across his two seasons with the Aggies.
A move to Southern Miss offers a clearer path to the field and the opportunity to develop with consistent reps—something that proved difficult to secure in A&M’s deep secondary.
