LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a 2023 homicide. Lubbock police responded to a report of shots fired on the 1900 block of Avenue M at 5:29 a.m. on January 13, where they found 40-year-old David Perez with a gunshot wound. Perez, of Lubbock, Texas, was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, according to the Lubbock Police Department. Investigators believe Perez was shot by an unknown suspect while he was in the back of his house. On January 17, 2023, the Lubbock Metro released an image of a black four-door sedan as a possible vehicle of interest, as it was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
