ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Lady Mavs (6-10, 0-4 WAC) return home Thursday night for a Blue Out, aiming to reset on their home court against Utah Tech (6-8, 1-3 WAC). To welcome students back to campus, the first 200 students in attendance will receive a free T-shirt, available upon entry while supplies last.

UTA is aiming to bounce back and build consistency after a hard-fought road trip, where they pushed Abilene Christian right to the final possession in a 59-56 decision. With the return of Senior guard Nya Threatt and an all around performance by Kira Reyonds.

Kira Reynolds leads the Lady Mavs with 12.4 points per game and shoots 48.3 percent from the field. Nya Threatt has added a boost offensively since returning to the lineup, averaging 9.4 points per game, while Jadyn Atchison and Mila Reynolds each contribute 7.9 points per contest. Kira Reynolds also leads UTA on the boards at 8.2 rebounds per game as the Lady Mavs continue to get production throughout the rotation.

Utah Tech is paced by redshirt senior guard Kaylee Borden, who leads the team at 15.1 points per game, with Brie Crittendon controlling the boards at 7.8 rebounds per game. Maddie Warren (10.6 ppg) and Chardonnay Hartley (8.1 ppg) add scoring support for the Trailblazers, giving Utah Tech multiple perimeter threats. The Trailblazers average 64.7 points per game and rely heavily on guard play, making perimeter defense and rebounding key for UTA.

For head coach Shereka Wright the game plan is straight forward, “For us going into this week, it’s like we’ve always talked about we have to protect home…It’s getting back to us…We have to make sure we control the tempo, we have to get out to a quick start, and we have to play a complete game of basketball for forty-minutes.”

UTA has won three of the last six meetings against Utah Tech, including both matchups during the 2024-25 season. The Lady Mavs took an 81-60 win at College Park Center before closing the season with an 86-67 road victory in St. George.

NOTE WORTHY

Senior guard Nya Threatt is set for her 100th game in the UTA uniform, while freshman Kira Reyonlds is coming off her third WAC Newcomer of the week award.
