Dallas Police Department has terminated an officer following a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday, the department said.

Officer Cesar Rangel was terminated from his position for engaging in adverse conduct when he was arrested for indecent assault, according to a news release from Dallas police. He was also relieved from his position for using city equipment for purposes other than departmental business, according to the release.

Rangel was placed on leave Aug. 24 after he was “involved in a incident resulting in police response, ” according to department records reviewed by The Dallas Morning News.

He was later arrested on a misdemeanor family violence assault charge in September after he turned himself in on a warrant issued by the Elm Ridge Police Department, Dallas police said.
