EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Habitat for Humanity has gifted a new home to the Mathis family, creating a heartwarming scene as they transition from a one-bedroom apartment to a three-bedroom house.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds and repairs affordable homes for families in need, and provides safe, decent housing with affordable mortgages.

Taylor Moreno, executive director of development and community outreach for Habitat for Humanity, said, “These girls are so excited just to have a backyard, to have a place that they can come home and call their own space, you know, because they’re moving from a one-bedroom apartment, all four of them to a three-bedroom home.”

The Mathis family qualified for the homeownership program, which requires families to live at or below the area median income, among other criteria. Learn more here.
