This amendment creates a revenue source for the Texas Water Fund with $1 billion a year from sales tax for two decades starting in 2027. It also allows the Legislature, under certain conditions, to increase the annual allocation to $2 billion for future fiscal years.

With our growing population and perennial drought conditions, Texas must update its aging water infrastructure while investing in innovative ways to manage our water supply. This includes wastewater reuse, new reservoirs and desalination of ground water or sea water projects. Ensuring permanent funding for these projects is necessary.
