1. Texas Democrats call for investigation into Elon Musk’s AI chatbot creating explicit images
Texas House Democrats are calling for an investigation into Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot on X—a social media platform owned by Elon Musk and operated in Bastrop. They said the chatbot is creating sexually explicit images of children and women.
2. Austin family to invest $100 million in UT medical center development
Austin residents Tench and Simone Coxe announced Monday that they will invest $100 million in the development of the new University of Texas Medical Center. It will integrate the work of UT’s Dell Medical School and UT MD Anderson cancer care to “deliver the highest quality of care in Central Texas.”
The gift is one of the largest in UT’s history, and university leaders said the goal is for the medical center to be in operation by 2030.
3. University of North Texas launches free tuition program for first-time freshmen
Incoming University of North Texas freshmen could have their entire tuition costs paid for with a new program for qualifying students.
Starting fall 2026, UNT’s North Texas Promise Program will cover tuition for students seeking their first bachelor’s degree for up to four years — or eight consecutive semesters — through a combination of scholarships.

Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz pitches special visa for immigrants to work in construction
U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, R-Edinburg, is raising eyebrows with her proposal to create a special visa for immigrants who want to work temporarily in the U.S. construction industry.
De La Cruz announced earlier this month that she wants to create a special visa program, similar to the Bracero program, which allowed workers from Mexico to come to the U.S. and work in the agriculture sector.
