If you’ve ever driven across Lubbock and thought, “Is every other vehicle on the road a pickup?”–congratulations, your instincts are spot on!

A new study, which analyzed over 9 million used car sales, confirms what West Texans already knew: the Ford F-150 absolutely rules the road in Lubbock. And not just a little–it dominates.
Here’s how Lubbock’s top used vehicles stack up against the rest of Texas and the nation.
Lubbock Loves Its Trucks (No Surprise There)
According to the study, the Ford F-150 was the best-selling used vehicle in Lubbock in 2025, accounting for 5.0% of all 1- to 5-year-old used vehicle sales in the area. That’s a bigger share than the truck holds statewide, which tells you just how strong Lubbock’s truck culture really is.

Here are the five most popular used vehicles in Lubbock:
Ford F-150 – 5.0%
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – 4.9%
GMC Sierra 1500 – 3.0%
Ram 1500 – 2.6%
Nissan Rogue – 2.2%
Four of the top five? Full-size trucks. The lone non-truck is the Nissan Rogue, proving that while Lubbock loves pickups, practicality still sneaks into the mix.
How Lubbock Compares to the Rest of Texas
Statewide, Texas also leans heavily toward trucks–but Lubbock takes it to another level.
The top five best-selling used cars in Texas are:
Ford F-150 – 3.4%
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – 3.3%
Ram 1500 – 2.1%
Toyota Camry – 2.0%
GMC Sierra 1500 – 1.9%
While Texas mixes in a sedan like the Toyota Camry, Lubbock keeps things more rugged. Trucks simply move faster here–likely thanks to our wide-open roads, work demands, and a lifestyle that favors horsepower over cupholders.
🇺🇸 Where Lubbock Fits Nationally
Nationally, the Ford F-150 remains the king of used vehicles, topping sales in 28 states and 22 major cities. Lubbock is clearly part of that trend–just with extra emphasis.
The study also found:
SUVs dominate the broader market, making up 10 of the top 20 used vehicles nationwide
Sedans and trucks split evenly with five each in the top 20
The Chevrolet Malibu made the biggest leap nationally, jumping from 29th to 8th
In the EV space, Tesla dominates, with the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X all ranking among the top used EVs
What This Says About Lubbock Drivers
Bottom line? Lubbock drivers value durability, versatility, and capability. Trucks aren’t just a preference here–they’re part of our daily life.
