Former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham is ready to explore the world of politics.
“Austin, my story isn’t just a headline; it’s the blueprint for Austin’s 2026 transformation,” Abraham, 34, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 15, when confirming her bid for mayor of the Texas capital city. “Let’s Keep Austin Weird, Keep Austin Fair, Vote Farrah Abraham for Austin Mayor 2026!”
In her announcement post, the former MTV reality star shared that her 2026 plan is built on six pillars.
“1. Family Planning for All — Brighter futures start here. 2. Modern Workers Act — Your home, your dreams,” she explained. “3. Veteran Bridge Program — Support when you need it. 4. Safety & Policy First — Every zip code matters. 5. Abraham’s Survivor-First Pilot — Your voice, your truth. 6. Senior Housing ATX Cares — Safe, dignified living.”

Abraham also launched a website to further discuss her vision for Austin’s future. It also appears that the former 16 and Pregnant star filled out appropriate appointment forms and filed them with the Office of the City Clerk.
“Join the conversation, let’s shape Austin’s future!” Abraham wrote via Instagram. “GO LONGHORNS! AND GOD BLESS AUSTIN TEXAS🙏 #farrahabraham #mayor #mayor2026 #austin.”

Abraham first gained recognition when she appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009. At the time, cameras rolled when she welcomed her daughter, Sophia, one month after the death of her high school boyfriend.
She went on to star in the show’s spinoff Teen Mom before leaving the franchise in 2018 to pursue other opportunities.
“As Mayor candidate 2026, I believe in a brighter future for our amazing Austin, Texas community,” Abraham stated on her campaign website. “Our vision is to engage citizens and promote transparency in local governance. Abraham isn’t the only reality star stepping into politics this year.

On January 7, The Hills alum Spencer Pratt announced he is running for mayor of Los Angeles one year after losing his home in Pacific Palisades, California.
“Over the past year, I have been on a journey for truth and I have seen how power operates in our state and in our city. Leadership is a closed circle reserved for the elite and their benefactors; and the insiders seem shocked, even insulted, that an outsider like me would even dare to challenge the status quo,” Pratt said in a statement. “But we live in a city of hopes and dreams, where a reality TV personality is the Average Joe. Why shouldn’t City Hall be open to people from all walks of life, including a TV personality like me.”
