Every realignment cycle, we have new schools moving up or down the University Interscholastic League classification ladder to varying degrees of success.

Before we see officially know which schools are in for new challenges over the next two years, let’s see how every area program that transitioned the last time around, for the 2024-26 cycle, fared.

Anna, up to 5A Division II

After winning the 2023 4A Division I state championship, Anna transitioned to Class 5A in District 4-5A Division II, one of the toughest in the state. Head coach Seth Parr’s team finished 12-4 in district play over two seasons and made the regional semifinals in both.

Aubrey, up to 4A Division I

After going unbeaten in district over its last two seasons in 4A Division II, Aubrey moved up to Division I into a tough District 7 where it faced the likes of eventual state champion Celina. Aubrey went 5-7 in district during that span and made the playoffs in 2023, advancing to the regional semifinal.

Carrollton Creekview, up to 5A Division I

Carrollton Creekview flourished in its move to the highest 5A classification after going 0-10 the year prior in 5AII. Creekview went 6-2 in District 6-5AI in 2024 and 7-1 this fall, finishing second behind West Mesquite.

Conrad, down to 4A Division I

Conrad finished winless in two seasons (0-14) in District 8-4A Division II after going 1-5 in 5A Division II the prior season.

Denton, up to 5A Division I

After earning a playoff berth in Class 5A Division II in 2023, Denton moved into a nine-team District 3-5A Division I where it went 4-12 over two seasons, missing the playoffs in both.

Forney, up to 6A

Forney advanced to the state semifinal in Class 5A Division I in 2023 before moving to the highest classification in Texas. The program was slotted into District 10 and still saw sustained success, going 8-4 in district and making the postseason in 2024 and 2025. The program made the regional semifinals in 2025.

Frisco Liberty, down to 5A Division II

Frisco Liberty went 2-14 over two seasons in District 4-5A Division II after dropping down from Class 5A Division I.

Highland Park, down to 5A Division I

After a brief but successful run in Class 6A, Highland Park moved back to 5A Division I, where it had a 12-0 district record in two years and advanced to the program’s 10th state championship game in 2024 and a regional final this past fall.

Justin Northwest, up to 6A

Justin Northwest’s move to Class 6A was a mixed bag. The program made the playoffs with a 4-4 record in District 4 its first year before going 1-7 this past fall. The program went 11-5 during its last two seasons in 5A Division I.

Kaufman, up to 5A Division II

Kaufman had a rough 2025 in Class 5A going 1-6 in District 6 after going 5-2 in 2024 and advancing to the area round of the playoffs.

Keller Fossil Ridge, down to 5A Division I

Keller Fossil Ridge’s drop to Class 5A resulted in the team going 0-8 in 2025 and 3-5 in 2024.

Kimball, down to 4A Division I

Kimball finished this cycle with just one loss in District 8-4AI over two years, coming this fall against Carter in overtime. Before moving down, Kimball went 7-4 over two years in 5A Division II.

Lake Dallas, down to 4A Division I

Lake Dallas missed the playoffs both of its first two seasons in Class 4A Division I with a record of 2-10 in District 7-4A Division I. The program went 8-4 over its two years in District 3-5A Division II.

Lancaster, up to 6A

After being a postseason staple in Class 5A, Lancaster struggled during its first two seasons in the highest classification in Texas, making the playoffs in 2024 with a 4-3 record in District 11-6A but going 3-4 and missing out this past season.

Lincoln, up to 4A Division I

Despite a slow start out of the gate in 4A Division I, missing the playoffs in 2024, Lincoln rebounded, going 6-1 and winning the District 8-4AI title this fall.

Mansfield Timberview, down to 5A Division II

Timberview was quick to acclimate to stay competitive in Class 5A Division II with a combined 11-5 record in two seasons and playoff berths in both years.

Princeton, up to 6A

Princeton experienced one of the biggest turnarounds in the D-FW area this fall, going 4-4 in District 6-6A, the program’s second year in Class 6A. Previously, Princeton had a combined district record of 2-20 over three seasons.

Roosevelt, up to 4A Division I

Roosevelt recorded its best district record in three years this fall, going 2-5 in District 8-4A Division I. The program had just one district win the previous three seasons combined.

The Colony, down to 5A Division II

The Colony missed the playoffs both seasons in District 3-5A Division II with a combined record of 5-11. Previously, the program went 9-7 in 5A Division I but missed the playoffs during the last cycle as well.

Lancaster might not have to face a team ranked in the top 20 in the state in 6A Division II playoffs until the state semifinals, at the earliest.
