After powering through a bit of a dry spell, Mavericks’ shooting guard Klay Thompson made history on Thursday night.

With his second made 3-pointer in a game agalong shotnst the Utah Jazz, Thompson passed Damian Lillard for fourth all-time in 3s made in the history of the NBA.

In a first-half offensive spurt for Thompson, he hit 3-pointers Nos. 2,804-2,809 as the Mavericks ran away with a 144-122 win over the Jazz. Thompson’s second 3-pointer pushed him over Lillard at 2,805.

Thompson now sits behind Ray Allen at No. 3 (2,973) with over 100 3s to go before catching the longtime sharpshooter and two-time NBA champion with the Celtics and the Heat.

Then there’s James Harden, currently at 3,293, and Thompson’s former Splash Bros. teammate Stephen Curry at No. 1, currently at 4,201 3s made. Both Harden and Curry are, obviously, still active, so it’d be a long shot that the 35-year-old Thompson could catch them.

Regardless, the bump up to No. 3 is just another bulletpoint on Thompson’s sure-fire Hall of Fame career. He’s slowly creeping into the top-100 of the NBA’s all-time scorer list as well, and of course he and Curry have four NBA championships to their ledger with the Golden State Warriors.
