AZLE, Texas (KWTX) – A fugitive wanted in a suspicious death investigation in North Texas was arrested while wearing a hoodie with the message, “I will put you in a trunk and help people look for you. Quit playing with me.”
Kruz Dean Wanser was charged with tampering with a corpse with the intent to impair an investigation, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and parole violation.

Wanser was arrested on January 15, 2026, during a joint manhunt involving the Azle Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, Texas Rangers, United States Marshalls and Parker County Special Crimes Unit.
Wanser was sought in connection to the suspicious death of 37-year-old Margaret Pennington.
Pennigton was located deceased inside an Azle residence on Sunday, January 11, 2026. At this time, her cause of death is still pending.
