Newly crowned queen reflects on confidence, competition, and her first week of duties representing the Coastal Bend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Royalty took center stage in Sinton last weekend as Rebecca Wilson was crowned the San Patricio–Aransas County A&H Queen during the annual Queens Contest.

Wilson recently appeared on First Edition, reflecting on the competition and what it meant to step onto the stage in front of a large crowd.

“At the beginning, it was very nerve-wracking,” Wilson said. “But once you get on stage in front of everybody, it’s really not bad. It was super exciting.”

The event featured introductions, skits, evening gowns, and a farewell to the outgoing queen—making for what many described as a memorable and emotional night.

Now one week into her reign, Wilson is already busy with queen duties, including community outreach and promotional appearances.

“I’ve met with Alan Samuels and made a video for small business outreach, and I also recorded a radio ad,” Wilson said. “I’m just excited for it all.”

Wilson, a senior at Sinton High School, raises roasters as part of her agricultural background and credits the contest for helping her grow personally.

Judges and audience members praised her confidence and communication skills.

“They said I was very passionate, very vocal, and a good speaker,” Wilson shared. “That really meant a lot to me.”

She hopes her experience encourages other young women in San Patricio and Aransas counties to compete in the future.

“It really brings you out of your shell,” Wilson said. “It makes you more confident and more vocal.”

Community members can meet Queen Rebecca Wilson at the upcoming livestock show events next week.
