The Red Raiders’ transfer portal saga started because mega-booster Cody Campbell said he would buy an offensive line to protect Texas Tech’s quarterback back in 2024.

Two seasons later, Texas Tech reportedly spent $5 million on ex-Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby, but went nearly the entire 2026 portal cycle without adding an offensive lineman — until Saturday.

Ex-Louisville offensive lineman Jordan Church took his visit to Lubbock and, according to On3, never left and committed to Texas Tech.

The 6-4, 310-pound addition played right guard primarily and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He has 1,265 snaps of experience and is regarded for his run blocking ability.

Texas Tech announced the return of all three of its running backs earlier in the cycle, so Church will be a welcome addition. Church may earn starting reps because left guard Davion Carter has graduated, but at the least, he should be a rotational piece to help protect Sorsby.
