The Minnesota Timberwolves (27-15) pay a visit to the San Antonio Spurs (28-13) Saturday. Tip-off from Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Timberwolves vs. Spurs odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Minnesota leads 2-0
Minnesota suffered a 110-105 loss at the hands of the Houston Rockets on Friday, failing to cover as a 3.5-point road underdog as the Under (222.5) hit. Julius Randle finished with 39 points and Naz Reid added 25 to make up for the absence of Anthony Edwards, who was out with a foot injury. The Timberwolves gave up 50 points in the paint and conceded 22 points off turnovers.
San Antonio routed the Milwaukee Bucks 119-101 Thursday to cover as a 7.5-point home favorite as the Under (224.5) was hit. Victor Wembanyama scored 22 and hit 5 of his 6 3-pointers to lead the Spurs. He was 1 of 6 Spurs players to score in double figures in the win. The Spurs won 50-37 on the glass and at one point led by as much as 39 points.
The Timberwolves escaped with a 104-103 victory when these teams last faced off on Jan. 11, failing to cover as 2.5-point home favorites while the Under (232.5) cashed. The Wolves dominated 50-32 in the paint while also forcing 14 turnovers, which turned into 17 points in the win.

PASS.
The line being set so heavily in San Antonio’s favor makes me believe Edwards is not playing, so this should be an easy win for the Spurs, who will have no problem covering here as -235 favorites. However, no team favored so heavily is worth the risk of backing on the ML, so pass and bet on the spread and/or total instead.
BET SPURS -5.5 (-118).
San Antonio has covered the spread in 4 of its last 5 games while also being 23-17-1 ATS this season. On the other side, the Wolves are just 1-3 ATS in their last 4 outings. The Spurs have also covered in 7 of their last 10 matchups against Minnesota, including covering in 3 of the last 4 meetings in San Antonio.
Randle is a great player, and he will likely score near 30 points to keep his team afloat here, but without Edwards, it will be nearly impossible for the Timberwolves keep things close with this immensely talented Spurs team.
BET UNDER 228.5 (-110).
The Under has hit in 9 of San Antonio’s last 10 games, including in 8 straight. The Under is also 24-17 for the Spurs this season. For Minnesota, the Under is 2-1 in its last 3 overall. The Under has also hit in 2 of the last 3 matchups between these squads in San Antonio.
Both squads pride themselves on the defensive side of the ball, and with Edwards out, the Wolves won’t have enough offensively to make the Over a real threat here.
