Hundreds of protesters turned out in Dallas on Saturday to protest the Trump administration, President Donald Trump in general, and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency in particular.
There were sparse turnouts in other Texas cities, and it was just three days ago that an ICE agent was injured in San Antonio, allegedly by an illegal alien who tried to escape arrest by driving away, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Some of those seen on the streets of Plano and other suburbs included cosplayers (costumed players) dressed as unicorns, dinosaurs and dolls.
They were accompanied by protesters beating on drums, which have become a mainstay of recent Democrat demonstrations, both printed and hand-drawn signs and people carrying loud airhorns, used for harassing and drowning out political opponents.
The Saturday demonstrations had been long planned as part of the Democrats’ previous protest campaign, the “No Kings” events around the nation, but when an ICE agent allegedly shot and killed protester Renee Goode last week, protest organizers, including the American Civil Liberties Union, Voto Latino and other far-left donors, quickly jumped on the emotional momentum being built up by an anti-ICE sentiment emerging among those on the political left.
And the Saturday protests were met in various Minneapolis locations by opposition demonstrators, though there were only two arrests, both of them said to be anti-ICE protesters.
