The opening of a $300 million amphitheater in McKinney has been pushed back.
The 20,000-seat Sunset Amphitheater, led by Colorado-based Venu Holding Corp., is now expected to open in 2027, according to city documents.
Last summer, Venu founder and CEO J.W. Roth said the facility was on track to host its first concert in June 2026. However, McKinney City Council approved Jan. 6 changes to the development agreement, giving Roth and his team more time to implement design changes that enhance year-round comfort, operational efficiency and overall venue flexibility, according to Chloe Polhamus, vice president of strategic initiatives and philanthropy for Venu.
