Road closures in place in part of east Allen as crews work to repair gas leak

According to the Allen Fire Department, the leak is near Main Street and Greenville Avenue in east Allen.

ALLEN, Texas — The Allen Fire Department and Atmos Energy are currently working to repair a gas leak in east Allen which has caused road closures Saturday evening.

According to AFD, the leak is near Main Street and Greenville Avenue. Evacuations were put in place in the northwest corner of the intersection on Saturday morning, and later expanded to the entire shopping complex at that corner.

At about noon, officials say Main Street west of Greenville Avenue was closed and will remain so until the leak is secured. At almost 7 p.m., officials said the closures would continue through the evening.

Drivers in the area are advised to find alternate routes.

Atmos Energy found the general area of the gas leak by about noon, officials said, and are removing concrete to find and repair the leak.
