Dallas police say more than one officer opened fire on a suspect who was reportedly firing their gun in a southern Dallas neighborhood.

Around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dallas officers were called to the 1200 block of Presidio Avenue.

A police spokesperson said the department received a 911 call about a man firing a gun in the neighborhood.

“Upon arrival, officers observed the man with at least one gun in the street. The officers gave the man loud verbal commands for him to drop the weapon. He did not comply. Officers fired, striking the man at least once,” said Maj. Anthony Greer with the Dallas Police Department.

Greer said the man received medical care from officers until paramedics arrived and took the man to the hospital in stable condition.

Police said more than one officer fired their weapon, and no officers were injured. No one else in the neighborhood was harmed as a result either.

NBC 5 crews watched investigators photograph and catalog guns at the scene, but it’s unclear if those belonged to the suspect or if they were the officer’s service weapons. Police also flew their drone over the neighborhood.

Dallas police have not released the name of the suspect and said the incident remains under investigation.
